COMPTON: No 'Goofing' Around in 11th NCTS Start at Atlanta
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

► The Virginia native will be making his 11th NASCAR start this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In his first Craftsman Truck Series race there last season, he scored a 16th place finish after starting 30th.

► Compton will be sporting the Landmark Dodge paint scheme this weekend at Atlanta. The Landmark Dodge dealership beat out Adkins Dodge during the recent Dodge Ram promotion. The Southeast Business Center and Dodge Motorsports challenged area Dodge Dealerships to sell as many Dodge Rams as they could during an allotted time. Landmark sold an impressive 28 Dodge Rams and won the naming rights on the No. 4 Dodge Ram Truck for Atlanta.

► In the first two races this season Compton has scored a sixth place finish at Daytona and because of an extremely loose race truck in California he finished 21st.

►Compton will pilot "SLIM" this weekend at AMS. This particular chassis was primarily a short track truck at BHR until this winter. After spending a lot of time in the wind tunnel, Slim received a makeover and will now serve as an intermediate truck. Compton drove Slim two weeks ago at the Auto Club Speedway in California.

Night out with Goofy: "Every night I sleep with my daughter Olivia in a tent downstairs in our basement. It started out as something fun we did one night and it has now become a nightly event. Unfortunately, our entire family has been hit by the recent flu bug. One night this week Olivia was lying in bed asleep and I was still up watching television. Before long I realized that she is talking in her sleep. I started listening to see if I can figure out who she is talking to and it was Goofy from Disney World. She was explaining to Goofy how sick she was and how her entire family was feeling bad. It was the cutest thing."

Multi-Groove Tracks Make for Better Racing: "Like California, Atlanta is another track that has improved with age. In today's world you don't hear to many people talking about how getting older is a good thing, but for race tracks it is. The older a track's surface is, the more fun it is for a driver to race on. The grooves are worked in and defined. I can race the top, middle and bottom lanes, which gives me a variety of places to try and make my truck work. My goal is to be able to run on the bottom most of the night, but if one set of tires will run better in the top lane then I have that option."
