Last Week at Daytona: Ron Hornaday and the No. 33 Camping World/VFW Chevrolet Silverado team made a strong showing in the Chevy Silverado 250 last week at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Hornaday consistently ran in the top five for most of the night and led a lap early on until a mechanical issue forced the team to the garage. Once repairs were made to the truck, Hornaday returned to the track and was able to drive the truck to a 25th-place finish. Hornaday Returns Home To Compete At California Speedway: Hornaday, a Palmdale, California native, will make a return visit to his home state for this weekend's running of the San Bernardino County 200 at California Speedway. Chassis No. 016 will return to the track at California Speedway for its 2008 debut. Hornaday picked up his Truck Series-record 33rd win in this truck last September at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and drove it to a second-place finish at Phoenix International Raceway last November. He has six Truck Series starts at California Speedway, with last year's second-place finish being his best at the track. Hornaday's first NASCAR Truck Series start at California Speedway came back in 1997 when he drove the No. 16 NAPA Chevrolet for Dale Earnhardt. Ron Hornaday On California Speedway: "California Speedway has been a good track for me. We had a great run out there last year with a second-place finish. California is mostly a flat track; it only has 14-degree banking in the turns. I have been really successful on the flat tracks and I'm looking to have another good run in front of the home-state fans that will be there." Rick Ren On California Speedway: "We are taking truck 16 out to California. It is a proven truck; we got one win and four second-places finishes with it last year. The truck was tested at Atlanta and we feel really good about taking it California. I know Ron will be pumped up about going out to California with that being his stomping grounds. "We had a great run out there last year. Ron qualified sixth and finished second. We had a great truck all day long and had a shot at winning it. But this is a new year with a different truck, so we will just go out there and try to get the job done." California A Homecoming For Truck Chief Stockman: Not only is California the home state of driver Ron Hornaday, but truck chief and front tire carrier Danny Stockman also calls California home. Stockman, a native of Fontana, California, is in his third season with Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI).
