HORNADAY: Roaring and Ready to Go in 2008
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Ron Hornaday and the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Silverado crew are looking to defend their 2007 NASCAR Truck Series championship with a strong run in the Chevy Silverado 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway February 15, 2008. Crew chief Rick Ren will be taking a brand new truck to Daytona, Chassis No. 019. The truck was tested last month during preseason testing at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. This season also marks the first time that Hornaday will have a full-time teammate with the addition of Jack Sprague running in Kevin Harvick Inc.'s (KHI) No. 2 American Commercial Lines (ACL)/RVs.com Chevrolet Silverado.

Hornaday To Make Fifth Career NASCAR Truck Series Start at Daytona: The Chevy Silverado 250 will be the fifth race at the historic 2.5-mile superspeedway for Ron Hornaday in his Truck Series career. Hornaday's first truck race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway was in 2002 when he drove a truck owned by Rick Hendrick.

Ron Hornaday On Daytona: "Daytona is one of those tracks that you can run wide open the whole time, like Talladega. The difference in the two, though, is that you have to drive the truck more at Daytona. The turns at Daytona have 31-degree banking and if you are running on the outside through the turns, you can gain good speed going off into the frontstretch and backstretch."

Rick Ren On Daytona: "Daytona is the 'Big One' in this sport. We all want to win that race. If you have a good run at Daytona to start off the year, it gives you confidence that you are going to have a good year. We have put a lot of work into these trucks over the winter. Our truck for Daytona is a brand new speedway truck. We tested down at Daytona last month and I was really pleased with how it tested. Now it's time to take everything we learned down there in January and put it to use and go out to win that race."

Harvick Excited About Hornaday-Sprague Connection: Kevin Harvick, co-owner of Kevin Harvick Inc., is excited about the upcoming 2008 NASCAR Truck Series season. When asked if he was looking forward to having Ron Hornaday and Jack Sprague run together, Harvick replied "Yeah, it's going to be a lot of fun to have them both run together. I like the way they both race and hopefully when it comes down to the end they can race each other and keep it in the family."

Camping World To Sponsor Daytona Nationwide Series Race: Camping World, a partner of Kevin Harvick, Inc. (KHI) in both the NASCAR Truck and Nationwide Series, will be the entitlement sponsor for the first Nationwide Series race of the 2008 season. The Camping World 300 presented by Chevrolet will be run on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick will return to defend his 2007 win in KHI's No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Monte Carlo entry.

Meet Ron Hornaday: Race fans will have a few opportunities to meet the 2007 NASCAR Truck Series champion. Ron Hornaday will be a guest on PRN's "Fast Talk from Daytona Beach" radio program with hosts Kyle Petty and Mark Garrow on Monday night, February 11, 2008, at 6:35 p.m. The program will be broadcast live from center court of the Volusia Mall. On Wednesday night, February 13, 2008, he will be taking part in the Craftsman autograph session from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The autograph session will be held at Sears inside the Volusia Mall. Then on Friday, February 15, 2008, Hornaday will be signing autographs at the Camping World trackside store from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., then he will join other members of the Chevrolet racing family to sign autographs from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. at the Chevrolet Racing display outside Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
