CRAWORD: Opens 2008 Season with Media Day
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

While the green flag of the Chevy Silverado 250 will not drop until next
Friday night, Thursday's Media day at Daytona International Speedway
signaled the start of the 2008 racing season. Media Day at Daytona is truly
a unique event hosted by NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR
invites the best of each series to meet with the assembled media to kick-off
coverage of Speedweeks 2008 that will culminate in the 50th running of the
Daytona 500. Every media outlet, every media type, print, radio, internet
and broadcast that cover NASCAR all get access to develop story lines with
NASCAR's top drivers.

Rick Crawford, driver of the Circle Bar/Power Stroke Diesel by International
Ford F-150 and former Daytona winner, spent the morning making the cycle; MRN,
PRN, Speed, Getty Images, FSN, NASCAR.com,local television stations from around
the country, local radio and a final stop with Mike Bagley and David Poole
live on Sirius Satellite Radio.

After a morning with the media, Crawford made the trip to the Kennedy Space Center
for the launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis, STS-122. Crawford and Circle
Bar Racing have a long relationship with NASA and the Kennedy Space Center.
Circle Bar's tribute to the crew of Columbia led to Crawford navigating his
6'2" frame inside one of the shuttles during pre flight preparations.
Crawford viewed the launch of Atlantis from the Astronaut Hall of Fame at
Kennedy Space Center.

Rick Crawford on Media Day: "I go to media day to answer questions but my
favorite part of this year's media day was my opportunity to ask questions.
Ken Squier has covered Daytona forever. From the first TV broadcast he was
the voice of the Daytona 500. When he quit asking me questions I turned the
tables and started asking him. What an incredible conversation, a very
special Daytona memory.
