SPEED: Mike Skinner on Trackside Live! from Texas
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader Mike Skinner appeared on SPEED's Trackside Live! Friday just moments before the Truck Series race at Texas.  Heading into Texas, Skinner trailed Ron Hornaday, Jr., by a mere four points but emerged from the race with a 57-point lead.  Following are Skinner's comments on Trackside:

"I'm not nervous at all now.  Whatever happens now, we've had a phenomenal year with Toyota and our Tundra.  Bill and Gail Davis (car owners) keep letting me drive their truck and Toyota keeps sending us checks.  We're just having a great time and no matter what happens, it's been a great year. We want to win - of course, we want to win but if we lose, we couldn't lose to a better guy.  I love Ron Hornaday to death but I love Bill and Gail Davis more.

"It's a lot harder to win now and a lot harder to get poles than it was when the Truck Series started back in 1995.  It's a lot harder period.  It's gets more competitive all the time.  The Truck Series still has its own identity and that's the coolest thing about it.  The Busch Series has kind of been taken over a lot by the Cup Series and has turned into a Saturday Cup race.  The Truck Series is still the Truck Series.  Most of the time when the Cup drivers come over to race with us, they get into somebody's truck that is in the Truck Series fulltime and that makes it a lot better for the Truck Series competitors.  That makes it a little easier for us to compete."
