Sgt. Brody O'Farrell, son of Key Motorsports employee Jeff O'Farrell and his wife Kathy, is headed back to Iraq for his third tour of duty in the Middle East.
The 27-year-old O'Farrell is a member of the 10th Mountain Division's 1st Brigade. His specific unit is Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment that initially went to Kuwait from Fort Drum on September 5. They will remain in Kuwait for up to three weeks before deployment to Kirkuk, Iraq where the unit will be stationed for 15 to 18 months.
The younger O'Farrell will have been in the United States Army for six years next January and will have spent nearly half of that in the Middle East.
He first served in Afghanistan for nine months and then a year in Iraq before returning home in September 2006. He plans on re-enlisting for another 4 to 6-year tour at that time.
Brody and his wife Danyel became parents for the first time last June when son Brayden Jay was born. It makes Jeff O'Farrell and his wife grandparents for the third time. Daughter Molly is the Office Manager at Key Motorsports and the girlfriend of team owner Curtis W. Key, Sr. Molly has two boys, 12-year-old Eli and 6-year-old Caleb.
Jeff is a computer specialist and systems engineer for Key Motorsports with his primary responsibility to the team being cockpit preparation and electronics. He serves as the catch can specialist on race day.
