08-27-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
After starting 31st on the field in Wednesdays O`Reillys 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Chad McCumbee driver of the No. 8 MRD theGPSstore.com/Garmin Chevy, night was short lived, but very event full. On lap 18 he received contact off of turn 4 after two trucks in front of him made contact sending the No. 8 down to the apron, receiving minor damage but loosing several spots on the track. After the restart on lap 34 McCumbee was involved in an incident that would put the truck behind the wall for the night. "It was an eventful night. I had moved up to the top groove and we were starting to make some progress up there. I was trying to pass a truck on the outside and his spotter must not have told him I was there and that was the end of the night for us" a dejected McCumbee said of the accident. "I hate that the night ended like that, we had a good truck and the guys over at MRD have been working their tails off. We are going to be doing some testing the next couple of weeks and I know that will pay off." McCumbee said. McCumbee and the No. 8 MRD theGPSstore.com/Garmin Chevy are ready to head to Gateway. "We had our best finish with Chad in the truck at Gateway in 06. I know that he and the team are very capable of running up front and we intend to do just that." team owner Dave Malcolmson said. "Gateway is one of my favorite tracks. After getting some time with Steve and Gene, I know that we get this thing turned around and get the finishes that we are capable of." McCumbee said of heading to Gateway.
