| SAUTER: Bad Break at Bristol
08-27-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
Tim Sauter felt past short-track experience would help guide the Lester Buildings No. 07 to a strong run Wednesday night when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competed on the new concrete at the Bristol Motor Speedway. The Green Light Racing team left the fast half-mile speedway disappointed as a broken track-bar mount forced Sauter behind the wall for lengthy repairs resulting in a 28th place finish. Sauter qualified his Lester Buildings Chevy in 26th starting position with a lap of 16.22 seconds and held position on the lead lap when the teams made their first stop on lap 34. Sauter reported the truck was tight and he needed help getting through the corners. The No. 07 restarted 27th after making the adjustments and was running 25th when the track-bar bracket broke just past the halfway point of the 200 lap event. The Green Light team did a great job with the repairs in the garage area and Sauter came back onto the track 57 laps down to gain valuable points. The team's work was well worth the effort as it moved Sauter from 31st to 28th in the final rundown behind winner Johnny Benson, gaining 9 championship points. "It was just a rough night. We were real tight and then broke a track bar bracket off the rear end, we lost a lot of laps," Sauter said following the race. "The guys did a good job getting us back onto the track tonight, but we need to forget about it and move onto Gateway." Despite the setback, Sauter moved up one position to 16th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings. Tim also leads Willie Allen in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings 126 to 121. The Green Light Racing team will return to action on Saturday Sept 1, 2007 at the Gateway International Raceway in St Louis. "We're going to bring our best truck to Gateway so I'm looking for this team to rebound," Sauter added. Race fans are encouraged to enter the Lester Buildings "Race Fan Building Sweepstakes" for a chance to win a Lester "Town & Country" building with an MSRP of approximately $30,000 by mailing the coupon from Tim's autograph card or by completing an online form found at JAYSKI.com, including the site's expanded Craftsman Truck news pages.
