Bobby Gerhart Racing (BGR) has officially announced that Brian Keselowski will drive the No. 5 Lucas Oil Chevrolet in the next five ARCA RE/MAX Series events starting with the Governor's Cup 200 this Sunday afternoon at the Milwaukee Mile.
Keselowski will be subbing for the recuperating Bobby Gerhart, who was injured at Pocono Raceway on August 4th.
Keselowski, the son of 1989 ARCA RE/MAX Series national champion Bob Keselowski, subbed for Gerhart at Nashville Superspeedway back on August 11th, finishing fifth.
"Brian did a super job for Bobby Gerhart Racing at Nashville," said car owner/crew chief Bill Gerhart. "In fact, he did so good our phone's been ringing off the wall... other drivers wanting to get in the car. But Brian's going to be our driver. We feel like by choosing Brian we also keep things within the ARCA family. When we first broke into this series in the 80s, Brian's father Bob Keselowski was the man here. I mean, we really looked up to him, and we certainly still do. We have an enormous amount of respect for the entire Keselowski family. The Keselowski's have also been very supportive of our team over the years and have been instrumental in helping us with some of our short-track set-ups."
Beyond Milwaukee, Keselowski will make his next appearance in the Lucas Oil car at Gateway Int'l Raceway on Friday night, August 31 before making his way to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds mile-dirt on September 3 for the Southern Illinois 100. The DuQuoin race will mark the first-ever dirt-track attempt for the Rochester Hills, Michigan driver. Keselowski's father Bob Keselowski won back-to-back events at DuQuoin in 1988 and '89.
Other events on Keselowski's calendar for BGR include Chicagoland Speedway on September 9 and Salem Speedway on September 15.
The Governor's Cup 200 is part of a late summer surge for the ARCA RE/MAX Series that sees the tour compete at 8 different tracks in 6 weeks, including events on superspeedways such as Gateway Int'l Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway, as well as on mile dirt-tracks in Springfield and DuQuoin, Illinois. The Governor's Cup 200 immediately follows the annual mile-dirt race at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
Practice for the Governor's Cup 200 is scheduled from 1:00-2:15 pm local time Saturday afternoon, August 25th with SIM Factory Pole Award Qualifying following at 5:15 pm. The Governor's Cup 200 is LIVE on SPEED Sunday, August 26th at 1:00 pm ET.
