| McCUMBEE: Night Ends Early at ORP
08-02-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
The No. 08 theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet has made strides all year long in their short track programs, and the team headed to O'Reilly Raceway Park with the expectation of being able to compete for the win with driver Chad McCumbee behind the wheel. Unfortunately, fate had other plans. After starting from the 20th spot, early in the race the McCumbee was working his way up through the field when another competitors spinning car made contact with him, ending his night early with a 34th place finish and putting the teams' dreams of victory on hold, for now at least. "We were thinking that was going to be one of our best races yet" said McCumbee. "Unfortunately we just got caught up in someone else's mess. We are definitely making strides in our short track program as we have been all year. We are getting closer and closer to finding the right package that will put us in victory lane before the year is up." McCumbee will have one weekend off before they get back to the track, but when they do return to action at Nashville Superspeedway, he is going to let this worry him. "I am looking forward to going to Nashville next weekend," said McCumbee. "We have had good runs there in the past, and we can put this unfortunate luck behind us and focus on getting theGPSstore.com / Garmin truck in victory lane there." Chad and theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet along with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will be off next weekend but will return to action Saturday August 11th at Nashville Superspeedway.
