Coming into the Power Stroke Diesel 200 presented by Ford and International David Starr and his International MaxxForce Diesel team have spent the last few weeks working their way towards the top 10 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings. Just 2 spots out of 10th going into the race at O'Reilly Raceway Park Starr and crew chief Dennis Connor were looking to continue to build on their solid finishes of the last month. With rain wreaking havoc with the on track schedule Starr was able to spend more time outside of the track than usual. An autograph session with some rain drenched fans followed by a question and answer session at International Truck and Engines hospitality tent kept the MaxxForce driver busy during the long rain delay.

Before the rains came to ORP Starr and his International MaxxForce Diesel team had an opportunity to practice their Ford F-150. For the Power Stroke Diesel 200 crew chief Dennis Connor picked the short track chassis the International MaxxForce Diesel team had already run in Mansfield and Memphis CB-23 better known as "Old Blue". Old Blue had already proven it could hunt in it's previous outings and with Starr's 4th place finish in last year's Power Stroke Diesel 200 the International MaxxForce Diesel team had high hopes for this years Power Stroke Diesel 200.

Off the trailer Old Blue was in the top 5 on the speed chart but as practice wore on the International MaxxForce Diesel team's Ford F-150 became harder to get a handle on. With qualifying rained out Connor and Starr would have to wait and see if the changes they made worked until the drop of the green flag. Starr rolled off 13th after lining up by points and was trapped on the inside lane (not the preferred groove at ORP) at the start of the race. After working his way up to the preferred groove Starr was able to settle in line in the 16th position. Under green the International MaxxForce Diesel Ford F-150 was tight in the center and needing forward bite off the corner.

With the caution flag in the air on lap 83 Starr brought his International MaxxForce Diesel Ford F-150 to the attention of Connor and the over the wall gang. Four fresh Goodyears with air pressure adjusted, Sunoco Fuel and a spring rubber out of the left rear and Starr was back on track. The extra time on pit road for adjustments and taking the spring rubber out would cost the team 5 spots and put Starr back on track in 22nd position. Back under green the International MaxxForce Diesel Ford F-150 started to respond to the changes and Starr started picking up spots on the racetrack.

Over the next 30 laps Starr picked up 3 spots but his Ford F-150 was still struggling. Under caution Connor called his ailing machine to pit road for fresh rubber and another round of adjustments. The stop would put Starr back to 26th but the stop was worth the gamble to make the truck better for this race and races to come.

With the green flag flying Starr was on the move and by the final caution was up to 15th. The 2 lap shoo-out at the end would cost the International MaxxForce Diesel team as Starr made an aggressive move to pick up a few spots and was pinned by a slow truck relegating the team to a 17th place finish.

David Starr: "We were scheduled to go out and sign autographs before the race and it was pouring down rain. I almost didn't go because I didn't think anyone would be out in the rain. I should have known better, the fans are incredible and they were waiting in line soaking wet. With the rain canceling qualifying I was able to stay at the signing until we signed for everyone that had been waiting in the rain. I left there for the International Truck and Engine hospitality tent for a question and answer session. Even with the rain International had hundreds of employees and customers under the tent and they were an awesome crowd! We just never got our International MaxxForce Diesel Ford F-150 turning in the middle like we needed it to. I'm disappointed because we really wanted to put on a good show with International sponsoring the race."

The International MaxxForce Diesel Team will be in action when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series holds round 15 of the 2007 season in the Toyota 200 at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday August 11th.
