Haas CNC Racing developmental driver Blake Bjorklund did not have an easy task ahead of him as he started the Power Stroke Diesel 200. Rain canceled the qualifying session, so the field was required to line up by Craftsman Truck Series owners' points. That left Bjorklund starting the race 30th.
After a two-hour rain delay, they were able to get the race going. Bjorklund and the No. 8 Hass CNC/MRD Chevrolet struggled at the beginning of the race and eventually and lost a lap. After a lot of persistence, the No. 8 Hass CNC/MRD truck regained the lost lap. During their first pit stop they made a few changes to the truck, and the truck got a lot better.
"The truck was starting to come to us and we were doing really well," stated Bjorklund after the race. "We went from the back of the field to 18th before our incident with the No. 13 truck."
With less than 60 laps to go in the race, the No. 13 truck driven by rookie Willie Allen made contact with the No. 8 truck. The No. 8 truck was forced to go in for an unscheduled pit stop to replace two flat tires and front end work. After two pit stops to fix the damage, Bjorklund resumed the race three laps down. The No. 8 Hass CNC/MRD Chevrolet truck finished 30th.
"This was a very disappointing end to our night," Bjorklund said. "We were starting to salvage our rough start. We were on our way to a top fifteen tonight and that's what our team need after the past few races."
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes one week off and resumes on August 11th for the Toyota 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. The race will air LIVE from Nashville, TN at 6:00 PM EST on SPEED.
