| TOYOTA NOTES: Power Stroke Diesel 200 at ORP at Indianapolis
07-28-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
Three Tundras finished in the top-10 Friday night at O'Reilly Raceway Park with Johnny Benson (second), Todd Bodine (sixth) and Jack Sprague (ninth). Ted Musgrave (12th) and David Green (15th) logged top-15 runs. Other Tundras in the field included: Mike Skinner (20th), Ryan Mathews (25th), Terry Cook (26th) and Justin Labonte (27th). Tundras have won seven of 14 races this season. Skinner has four wins (California, Atlanta, Martinsville, and Kentucky), while Sprague (Daytona), Bodine (Texas) and Benson (Milwaukee) each have one victory apiece. Skinner started first in the No. 5 Tundra and led the first 21 laps. The points leader has now led at least one lap in each of the first 14 races this season, extending his NCTS record for consecutive races led to start a season. Rain cancelled qualifying, and the starting grid was set by NCTS owner points, putting Skinner on pole. Labonte was making his first NCTS start of the season for Toyota, and second of his career (Texas, 2006). Johnny Benson, No. 23 TCUV Tundra, Bill Davis Racing Finished: 2nd Why did the team decide to bring a new truck to ORP? "The other short track trucks were just old. We weren't real satisfied with how we were at some of the other short tracks earlier this season, so we decided to bring what we thought was our best stuff, which was a new truck. The truck was decent here, and obviously I'm pretty happy with a second-place finish, but I just wish we could've had a little bit more at the end." Todd Bodine, No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra, Germain Racing Finished: 6th Jack Sprague, No. 60 Con-way Freight Tundra, Wyler Racing Finished: 9th How hard was it to pass trucks tonight? "It's always tough to pass on short tracks. I was running the bottom groove for most of the night, where nobody was, and still couldn't get around guys because this place is so tight. The Con-way Freight Toyota was pretty good tonight, but we're definitely looking for some better runs in the next few races." David Green, No. 1 Red Horse Racing Tundra, Red Horse Racing Finished: 15th Do you feel like the team is building some momentum for the season's final stretch? "I really think we will be. It's just a matter of time before you see this truck where it should be, because I have all the confidence in the world in these guys. We're going to head to Richmond this week to do some testing, which hopefully will give us some good feedback to get this truck that much faster. We head to Nashville in a couple of weeks, and that's a place I really like racing at. I'm looking forward to these next few races." TED MUSGRAVE, No. 9 Team ASE Tundra, Germain Racing Finished: 12th
