BJORKLUND: Engine Woes Retire Team Early at Kentucky
Haas CNC Racing developmental driver Blake Bjorklund hasn't had good luck at
the past three races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Unfortunately, that
string of bad luck didn't change during Saturday night's Built Ford Tough 225 at
Kentucky Speedway.
Bjorklund qualified his No. 8 Haas CNC/MRD Chevrolet in 22nd place. After two
strong practices and Bjorklund's experience at Kentucky in the ARCA cars, the
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie felt confident with the set-up underneath
his Chevy's hood. But it didn't take long for his hopes for a strong finish to
fade.
Bjorklund and the No. 8 Hass CNC/MRD Chevrolet had made great progress in the
first few laps, taking over five spots in under 25 laps. With only 30 laps into
the race, Bjorklund could feel the motor missing. The No. 8 truck pulled into
the pits at lap 45 where they made the final call to take it to the garage.
"It definitely wasn't our night at Kentucky," Bjorklund said. "We had such a
good truck tonight and we were really moving up before the motor went. This Haas
CNC/MRD Racing team has worked really hard these past two weeks testing and
preparing this truck. It's too bad I couldn't give them a good finish. We'll
just have to put this race behind us and get back to it at Indianapolis in two
weeks."
