Transnet Racing announced this week that it has brought aboard veteran Danny
Gill as crew chief of the Dixien/OmniSource/Prime Metal Coatings Chevrolet Monte
Carlo SS. Effective immediately, Gill will lead the No. 98 crew, which is
currently in its first season of NASCAR Busch Series competition.
Transnet Racing announced its transition into the NASCAR Busch Series in the
fall of 2006, after several successful years in the Toyota Atlantic Championship
and promising stints in the NASCAR Elite Division and ARCA RE/MAX Series.
In March of 2007, owner and driver Alex Garcia made his Busch Series debut in
the Telcel-Motorola Mexico 200 in Mexico City, Mexico, and became the first
Venezuelan driver to race in one of NASCAR's top divisions. Transnet Racing is
currently running a partial schedule, with a full-time pursuit of the
championship scheduled for 2008.
Danny Gill brings years of experience to Transnet Racing. For Danny, what began
as a love of racing turned into a passion for competition and strategy, which
eventually led to him becoming a successful crew chief at the highest levels in
the NASCAR ranks.
Coming to Transnet Racing, Gill's statistics are impressive; he has visited
victory lane eight times as a crew chief, and is 10th in all time NCTS career
wins. "We are excited to have Danny aboard," says owner and driver Alex Garcia.
"He brings years of experience to the program and a proven winning record. I
look forward to working with him on the owner side, and as a driver. I
anticipate a very successful campaign from this point forward."
Transnet Racing's campaign continues at the NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit
Gilles Villenueve in Montreal on August 4th, followed by the Zippo 200 at
Watkins Glen International on August 11th.
