TOYOTA REPORT: Kentucky News and Notes

  Discuss

Since the 2004 NCTS season, a Toyota Tundra has never captured the checkered flag at Kentucky Speedway. A year ago, the top-finishing Tundra at Kentucky was Johnny Benson, who crossed the finish line fourth.

Tundra drivers hold down four of the top-seven spots in the NCTS championship point standings. Following the first 12 races of the year, Mike Skinner, driver of the No. 5 Toyota Tundra, sits atop the point standings. Tundra drivers trailing Skinner in the standings are Todd Bodine (third), Johnny Benson (sixth) and Jack Sprague (seventh).

This season, Tundra drivers have earned six wins and 10 pole positions. Tundra team members recording wins this year include Skinner (California, Atlanta and Martinsville), Bodine (Texas), Benson (Milwaukee) and Sprague (Daytona). Tundra drivers who have started from the pole include Skinner (Milwaukee, Dover, Mansfield, Charlotte, Kansas, Martinsville and Atlanta), Bodine (Texas) and Sprague (Daytona). In addition, Brad Kesolowski captured the pole at Memphis substituting for Ted Musgrave.

David Green will be returning home this weekend to drive the No. 1 Red Horse Racing Tundra at Kentucky Speedway. Green, an Owensboro, Kentucky-native, will be making his fifth career start in the Craftsman Truck Series. Between 1995 and 1997 Green started four NCTS races, with his best result being an eighth-place finish at Nazareth (PA) Speedway in 1997. The 1994 NBS champion has also driven a Riley-D'Hondt Motorsports Camry in three races this season -- at Kentucky, Nashville and Charlotte.
