ISC Executive Vice President and COO John Saunders said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the plane crash that occurred this morning in Sanford, Florida. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Bruce Kennedy, and others that have been lost or injured in this tragic accident. We ask that you respect the privacy of the Kennedy and France families while they deal with this terrible loss."
Dr. Kennedy was husband to ISC President Lesa France Kennedy.
Earlier media reports inaccurately reported that Lesa France Kennedy was a passenger on the plane. No ISC officers or employees were on-board the plane.
Statement From Grant Lynch, Sr. Vice President of Business Operations, International Speedway Corporation:
"I am deeply saddened by the loss earlier today of Dr. Bruce Kennedy. Having had the chance to spend time over the last 14 years with Bruce away from the business on many outdoor adventures has truly been an honor. I found him to be one of the most well-rounded, knowledgeable, and engaging personalities I have ever known. He was a unique person whom I admired and his loss will leave a huge void in my life. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with Lesa, the entire Kennedy and France families, as well as the other families involved in this accident."
