Chad McCumbee and the No. 08 theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet were able to end the six week stretch of races for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on a solid note with a 26th place finish at the latest event at Memphis Motorsports Park (TN).
It wasn't the finish that the team was hoping for, but despite the bad luck that was thrown their way they were able to get the points that they could from the solid finish.
"We just have had a couple of bad luck weekends here and there," said McCumbee. "What we had last weekend just continued a little bit into this weekend. We have kind of got on a tough stretch here, but you will have that every once in awhile in auto racing. I know that theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet will try and rebound and figure out what exactly had been going on."
McCumbee started theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet from the 25th spot and worked through out the race to try and find the right adjustments to balance out the truck. The team made gains throughout the race despite some pit road miscues, however a late flat tire during the race knocked the team back several spots forcing them to settle for the 26th place finishing spot.
"We have a little bit of work to do," added McCumbee. "Memphis is a tough place to get a hold of. When we unloaded we struggled a little bit, but the team made some good changes and we gained a lot though the day. We will just take it back to the shop, and go through and see what we can figure out. We also had that flat tire there at the end of the race, and that hurt us a couple of spots before all was said and done.
"We will try and figure out the kinks that we have had going on the past few weeks during this week off. We will be going into Kentucky here in a few weeks, and I feel that it will be a good style track for us, and a good place for us to rebound at, and theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet will be ready to go."
Chad and theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet along with the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will be off next weekend but will return to action Saturday July 14th at Kentucky Speedway (KY).
