UPDATE: Kvapil's Memphis Engine Checks Out OK - NASCAR officials said Monday that Travis Kvapil's engine passed inspection at their R&D Center.

Kvapil's Engine Taken to NASCAR R&D Center After Memphis Inspection

During post-race inspection following the O'Reilly 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Memphis Motorsports Park, NASCAR officials found issue with the engine in race winner Travis Kvapil's No. 6 K&N Filters Ford. The engine will be taken back to the NASCAR R&D Center for further evaluation next week. The issue with the engine was not disclosed.

"That is the standard procedure with an issue with the engine," said NASCAR Camping World Truck Series communications manager Owen Kearns. "It will be taken back to Concord (N.C.) where we can evaluate it more closely in a controlled environment. That is not to say there is anything wrong with it, but there are some things that they want to look at further. They may find there are some infractions, and when that has happened in the past the driver and team kept the win but faced both points and financial penalty. But they may find there is nothing wrong with it at all."

Roush Fenway Racing was subject to the largest points penalty in NCTS history following Greg Biffle's win at Las Vegas in 1999. Biffle won the race but was found to have an unapproved intake manifold. He was penalized 121 points and $48,860 for the infraction. He ended up losing the series championship to Jack Sprague by just eight points.
