CRAWFORD: Fast 'Elvis' Gets It Done in Milwaukee
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

The Circle Bar/Power Stroke Diesel by International team rolled into the Magic Mile having posted a pair of top 10's in the last 2 races, placing themselves back into the top 5 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship points standings.

The Milwaukee Mile has always been a solid track for the Circle Bar Team and a spot that crew chief Kevin "Cowboy" Starland knew favored veteran drivers. While the Magic Mile is considered a speedway, Starland looks at the rugged Wisconsin track as a speedway with short track tendencies. If Cowboy is going to a short track, he's going with his favorite short track chassis CB-17, better known as Elvis. Elvis has an impressive history at Circle Bar Racing posting 2 wins and a double handful of top 5s and top 10s. A Michigan native, Cowboy loaded Elvis in the hauler and headed back to his neck of the woods for the Toyota Tundra 200.

From the start of the first practice Elvis was rocking and rolling proving to Cowboy he had picked the right chassis for Power Stroke Diesel by International team. Solidly in the top 10 on the speed charts, the team prepped for qualifying with an eye on race trim versus a fast 2 laps. On a hot slick track their Ford F-150 posted a 13th place qualifying effort. With the drop of the green flag Veteran driver, Rick Crawford, was warming up Elvis in the opening laps prepping for the grand finale. Under caution, on lap 66, Cowboy and the team would get an opportunity to work on Elvis. In the opening stages of the race Elvis was acting just like the King himself, loose in, loose off, loose. The over the wall gang went to work, four fresh Goodyears with air pressure adjustments, a full load of Sunoco fuel and a wedge adjustment they sent Crawford back on track picking up a spot on pit road. Back under green Elvis was on the move, within 5 laps Crawford had cracked the top 10. Another few laps he was up to 9th and by the next caution the Power Stroke Diesel by International team was up to 8th. For the final stop of the night Crawford was looking for more grip on the nose. Cowboy called for 4 fresh Goodyears, a full load of fuel and an air pressure adjustment. The over the wall gang hit their marks and picked up Crawford 2 spots on pit road and the Power Stroke Diesel by International team was up to 6th. Under green, Crawford made quick work of the 5th place competitor and Elvis was rockin and rolling to the 4th place spot when Power Stroke Diesel by International team ran out of laps. Crawford's 5th place finish was the 59th top 5 of his career.

Kevin "Cowboy" Starland: "Another solid night by our race team. The guys got us a couple of spots on pit road during the last stop and Rick got us another one on the track for a top 5. We'll give "Elvis" a makeover this week and get him ready to go to Memphis."

Rick Crawford: "Everybody needs to take the Ford Challenge and try one of these Ford F-Series pick-ups. The Power Stroke Diesel by International Ford has the power and durability and is fun to drive. We made some bold moves out there in this Ford F-Series pick-up truck and appreciate all the guys, Kevin "Cowboy" Starland and all the guys. They made some good adjustments in the two pit stops we had; we were really close to making green flag pit stops on both. We had a good top-five finish - the best in class. We're looking forward going to Memphis."

The Circle Bar/Power Stroke Diesel by International Team will be in action when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series holds round 12 of the 2007 season in the O'Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park on Saturday June 30th at 8:30 PM EST.
