Schrader, No. 18 Dodge Review: Michigan
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

Fastenal driver Ken Schrader battled a loose race truck all weekend at Michigan International Raceway. The condition stayed persistent in both practices on Friday and during qualifying on Saturday morning. Schrader posted the 21st fastest time in qualifying despite the extremely loose conditions. The Fastenal Racing Team made all the changes possible to the No. 18 Dodge during the race, but was unable to free the truck of the loose condition. Ultimately, Schrader's day was ended when his engine expired on lap 73 and he finished in 30th place.

Schrader battled an extremely loose race truck in both practices on Friday. The loose condition continued in qualifying on Saturday when he posted the 21st fastest lap of the day.

It didn't take Schrader long to realize the loose condition was going to be persistent through out the race. On lap 10 he radioed in saying, "It is horrible loose," while he was running in the 26th position.

The first of four cautions waved on lap 30 for debris. Schrader was elated for the opportunity to come down pit road for adjustments. The Fastenal Racing team cranked out a fast pit stop changing all four tires, adding fuel and made numerous air pressure and wedge adjustments to tighten the truck up. Schrader restarted in the 26th position.

On lap 40 Schrader radioed in the truck was still loose, but not as bad as it was. The second caution waved laps later and Schrader once again came down pit road. "I need exactly what you gave me last time, but twice as much," he said to Crew Chief Jeff White. The Fastenal Racing Team cranked out another fast pit stop making more wedge, track bar and air pressure adjustments. He restarted in the 19th position.

Schrader was running in the 20th position on lap 73 when his engine expired coming out of turn four. He finished in the 30th position.

Travis Kvapil won the the Michigan 200 before an estimated crowd of 65,000. Kyle Busch, Brendan Gaughan, Mike Skinner and Ted Musgrave rounded out the top five finishers. The next event for the NCTS will be at Milwaukee on June 22, 2007 with Ken Schrader behind the wheel.
