| Compton Finishes 12th at Michigan
06-18-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
For most of Saturday's Michigan 200, Stacy Compton's primary goal was keeping his No. 09 Zaxby's Ford in position to make a push in the final 50 miles. He did exactly that, driving the Wood Brothers/JTG Racing-prepared F-150 to a 12th-place finish. Compton started 26th at the two-mile Michigan International Speedway. While it took him 150 miles to slowly carve through traffic, he was able to post another solid finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Track position was critical at Michigan. Compton had to fight through difficult conditions created by high-speed traffic, but his race truck was up to the challenge. With only 100 laps to work with, Compton's surge toward the Top 10 was stalled only by the checkered flag. Compton is sharing the driving duties in the No. 09 Zaxby's Ford with Joey Clanton. Compton will stay behind the wheel for Friday's Toyota Tundra 200 at The Milwaukee Mile. Clanton's next race will be at the Memphis Motorsports Park on June 30. Stacy Compton, driver of the No. 09 Zaxby's Ford F-150: "There's an old saying that nobody really loses a race, they just run out of time," he said. "That really applies to this No. 09 Zaxby's Ford. You give up so much when you're stuck in traffic like we were all day. We had an aero-push when we got behind other trucks, so it really hurt our progress to the front. We got all the way up to 12th and we would have kept moving forward if we had some more time. "Although I share this truck with Joey Clanton, it's really amazing how much better the truck is every time I get in it. This Wood Brothers/JTG Racing team makes huge strides week-by-week. They've taken a good truck and made it a great truck. There's no question this race team is going to win a race this year - as long as they don't run out of time." Race News
