Unlike the other racetracks Mathews has raced on this year, MIS is one where he has raced at before. In 2006, Mathews raced at Michigan twice in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. The first time finishing 13th and the second time finishing second.
Ryan Mathews on racing at Michigan International Speedway: "I like Michigan a lot. I graduated from Kettering University in 2001, so Michigan is a special place for me. I like the track. I have raced there a few times in the years past and have had pretty good success. The track has got three or four grooves, so there are a lot of places to move around even if you are not a fast truck."
"We have managed to finish every race this year with our fenders on. I have a great team and a great truck, and it is time to show that on the track. I have had good luck at Michigan in the past, so hopefully we can continue that this weekend and maybe get a top-ten."
This week's race truck for Michigan International Speedway is Chassis No. 36-42. This is the first time this truck has been on a track this year.
In 2001, Mathews graduated from Kettering University in Flint, MI with a degree in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Automotive Design.
Mathews's calm personality has got him a finish at every race he has ran so far this year. In his NCTS debut in Mansfield, Mathews took home an 18th place finish. In Dover with various truck problems, he remained calm and cool as he took home a 15th place finish. Last weekend in Texas, Mathews experienced bad vibrations throughout the entire race and still managed to finish 21st.
