| Rookie Practice Notes: Dover
05-31-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
Aaron Fike posted the best speed by a Raybestos Rookie (seventh overall) in today's first practice session at Dover. Fike leads the Raybestos Rookie standings by 24 points (78-54) over Willie Allen entering Friday's race. Aaron Fike, No. 1 RFMS/Red Horse Racing Toyota How many laps do you have here at Dover? "I think I've got one or two Busch races. I ran one full Busch race, the first race I ran here, and then the second Busch race I crashed within the first few laps. I've got probably a couple hundred laps here. I like these high-banked tracks. I always seem to run pretty well on the higher banked tracks like Bristol and here and some of the other tracks I grew up running, like Winchester and Salem." There is not much rubber on the track today. Is that an extra challenge? "I don't know, we'll see what happens. I've never been here in a truck but it should only get tighter so we'll see what happens." Will the track change a lot between practice today and the race late Friday afternoon? "You'd think so. I think you've got the Busch cars and the Cup cars are going to be out there. We'll see what happens. Before we qualify and run tomorrow it ought to change a bunch." Pit selection will be critical here in the race. "I was just looking at that. Pit road is pretty small here so hopefully we qualify up front and we get a good pit box." Raybestos Rookie Jason White was involved in an accident during the first practice session today at Dover. White was uninjured in the accident and will use a backup truck in Friday's race. Jason White, No. 7 Hooters Energy Drink Chevrolet How hard did you hit? "It was a pretty good lick. I didn't really feel it. It's got a new seat, new belts in there and actually it didn't hurt at all. But the truck, the whole front clip is off of it." You have a good opportunity with this team. "This is an awesome opportunity with Hooters Energy Drink as a sponsor and gunbroker.com and we were really looking forward to this race at Dover. We had a brand new truck ready to roll. It's pretty upsetting but we'll go get 'em in the race."
