The Monster Mile on Schrader's List of Favorite Tracks
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

Ken Schrader will be making his seventh NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Dover International Speedway on Friday. He has scored two top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes in the previous six races at the Monster Mile.

  • One of Schrader's four Nextel Cup Victories came at Dover in 1991.
  • The AAA Insurance 200 will mark Schrader's 75th NCTS start. In his previous 74 races Schrader has an average starting position of 15th and finishing of 16th.
  • Schrader will pilot "Bob Daddy" this weekend at Dover. He scored at 12th place finish with this particular chassis at Charlotte last month.
  • Crew Chief Jeff White has been to victory lane twice at Dover. White won the NBS event in 1999 with Brewco Motorsports and in 2004 with Bobby Hamilton Racing.
  • "Bobby Hamilton: Live To Race, Race To Live" will air on SPEED Channel Friday night at 12:00am ET. The show is a 30-minute tribute to Hamilton and his racing career.

The Monster Mile On Schrader's List of Favorites: "After a while all the race tracks run together, but Dover is definitely one I look forward to going to. Dover is wide open and really fast. The fact that it is concrete makes it different than what we normally compete on. Weather doesn't have the same effect on concrete as it does asphalt, making it more consistent. I predict the biggest challenges we could face this weekend will be managing tires, fuel mileage and pit strategy."

Nap Time: "Last Saturday was a very long day in Mansfield due to all the rain delays. Well, my truck team has never been around me when it rains and they quickly learned I like to sleep during the delays. A lot of times I never get out of the race car. I just take a nap until they tell me to start again. I heard they were looking for me after one of the rain delays to do a television interview with SPEED. I was curled up in the NASCAR hauler catching up on some much needed sleep. The best story of the weekend came when we were about to restart after the final rain delay. NASCAR had us get in the trucks while they were still drying the track. It must have been a little while before they told us to start the engines because I had already fallen back to sleep. I woke up and realize no one is in front of me. At first I panicked, but looked in my rear view mirror and saw everyone still behind me. I told my guys the next time that happens to yell at me on the radio and I will wake up."
