Fike, No. 1 Toyota Preview: Dover
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Aaron Fike has competed at Dover International Speedway three times in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS), but he's never raced his way around "The Monster Mile" in a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ride. In his three previous NBS starts at Dover, Fike has averaged a 22nd place finish. His best finish of 17th came in 2004 while driving the No. 43 Ollie's Bargain Outlet Dodge for Mike Curb.

"I remember the first time I walked into Dover," explained Fike. "I was blown away. Dover can be pretty intimidating, but you just have to stay focused and keep your nose clean. Qualifying is really important here, because it's so hard to pass. We'll put a little more emphasis on that during practice than we usually do since track position is so important."

Aaron Fike on his 2007 Season:
"I can't say enough about Jamie Jones and everyone at Red Horse Racing. It's great to be in good equipment with a great team behind me. I'm proud of everyone and everything that we've been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. Every week we're running near the front and that's a testament to this team and the help and support that we get from Toyota. Everyone has been really patient with me and I'm continuing to learn each and every week. It's only a matter of time before we get this Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra back into Victory Lane!"

Raybestos will host a dinner for the top-five in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Raybesotos Rookie of the Year point standings on Thursday night at Dover International Speedway. The event will be held at The Festival Buffet, which is located on the second floor of the grandstand overlooking the racetrack in Buffet Room B. Although the dinner is not open to the public, media members are urged to contact Jimmy White of Camp & Associates at (704) 880-1244 if they are interested in attending. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Aaron Fike will make his eighth career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS) at the drop of the green flag for the start of the AAA Insurance 200 on Friday, June 1st, 2007. In his seven previous NCTS starts, Fike has only finished outside of the top-20 once. With his string of solid performances, Fike and the Red Horse Racing team hold down 10th place in the 2007 NCTS Championship Point Standings. In addition, Fike currently leads the Raybestos Rookie of the Year points with 78 points, 24 over his closest competitor.

Raybestos Rookie of the Year leader Aaron Fike came close to winning his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race last Saturday at Mansfield Motorsports Park, but he fell short of fuel with two laps to go in the Ohio 250. Fike raced the No. 1 RFMS/Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra to second in Saturday's rain-delayed race at the 0.5-mile oval and was poised to procure his best finish of the year, but his fuel fell two laps short of the checkered flag.

"Everyone at Red Horse Racing gave me a great truck," said Fike after the race. "I'm just really disappointed that we ran out of gas with two laps to go. We were running strong all day and never thought that we would have run out of fuel, so that's why it's so disappointing." Despite running out of fuel on lap 248, Fike finished the event 24th and fell only one spot in the 2007 Championship Point Standings to 10th.

Aaron Fike continues to lead the 2007 Raybestos Rookie of the Year Standings with 78 points. He holds the lead over Willie Allen (54), Tim Sauter (53), Tyler Walker (51), and Joey Clanton (50).
