Dennis Setzer, No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado, led the fewest laps of the four drivers who lead the Ohio 250 at Mansfield Motorsports Park (MMP). But, he led the right ones. Taking the point with just 12 laps remaining in the 250-lap/125-mile race, Setzer won his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) race of the 2007 season, his 17th NCTS win and the second consecutive victory for Team Chevy Silverado. It is Setzer's first win with his new team and team owners Wayne and Connie Spears.

Setzer, who started in 18th position in the race that was red-flagged three times for rain and took over seven and one-half hours to run from the initial green flag to the checkered, credited the win to great pit strategy by crew chief Tom Ackerman. The Hickory, NC native never hit pit road for fuel or tires during the entire race.

"These guys really have worked hard on our Spears Silverado team, " said Setzer. "Goodyear's tire will go 250 laps so we knew it would be a fuel mileage race. I'm just so happy that the Spears, Wayne and Connie, gave me this opportunity and I could repay them with a win.

"We (crew chief Tom Ackerman) talked before the race started that we'd save fuel. Every time we restarted, I wouldn't crank the engine until the truck ahead of me was down pit road. Years ago, when I was with a different NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series program, I learned how to save fuel on the cautions.

"It was a great call and this win feels really good."

Setzer has finished in the top-10 in all four NCTS races run at MMP. He moved to 11th in the NCTS standings.

Silverado driver and two-time NCTS champion, Ron Hornaday, Jr., No. 33 Camping World Silverado, made his presence known early but pitting when about half the field didn't put him deep in the field. The 30-time NCTS and most recent winner (Lowe's Motor Speedway, May 18) worked his way back to the top-10 but contact with another truck and subsequent spin sent him back deep in the field. Hornaday repeated to process working his way back to the top-10 in a charge only to have the same contact scenario play out again, sending him to the back of the pack. But the two-time champion rallied to finish sixth, his sixth top-10 in the seven races run so far this season. He now sits second in the NCTS point standings, just 121 points behind the leader.

Brendan Gaughan, No. 77 South Point Hotel Silverado, captured ninth in the finishing order after starting in 35th position. The Las Vegas native climbed to 13th in points.

Matt Crafton, No. 88 Menards/Johns Manville Silverado, and his crew were on the same strategy as Setzer. Crafton led 68 laps in the race. Just prior to the third rain delay on lap 102, Crafton was hit from behind trying to avoid spinning trucks that he was trying to pass to put a lap down. He stayed out and continued to lead until the damage to his left rear fender eventually cut down a tire and he made hard contact with the wall.

The next NCTS race on the schedule is the AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway on June 1, 2007.

Dennis Setzer, No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado, Qualified 18th, Winner:
On how they made it the distance without a stop: "Well, these guys did a great job of preparing this truck and put a lot of effort into the fuel cell. Goodyear brings us a great tire now and you have to pay attention to fuel on these things. We said it from the get go, and Tom (Ackerman, crew chief) was real close to making it the whole way last year in this race so we wanted to give it a try. I was saving fuel from the very start of this race from the time we rolled off the line. I rode it in high gear every caution we had today and I would drop it back in second gear on the backstretch on every restart we had.

"Our No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado team was just real fortunate today and we are so lucky to have the support from Wayne and Connie Spears to provide a truck for us like this and we all just really appreciate the opportunity we all have here."

On how truck was on the restarts: "It was pretty good you know, we would get away just a little bit. I chased (Rick) Crawford a little bit there near the end, but I believe he ran out of fuel and had to stop. That just highlights the preparation that our guys did to make it all the way. I am just so proud of them and what we have been able to do today."

On how everybody said the low groove wasn't the place to be but it looked like you were able to put this truck anyplace it needed to be on the track today? "You really could. You know we could run the low, middle, or high groove. Goodyear brought a better tire this year, they actually brought a short track tire and it really fit this track well today and helped give us a few more grooves today. I would like to thank the fans here at Mansfield. They stuck out a long, long day and put up with rain showers and we really appreciate these fans sticking around."

Brendan Gaughan, No 77 South Point Hotel Silverado, Qualified 35th, Finished 9th:
"That was just one of those old fashioned, I have no clue how we did it days. For me to come from 35th to 9th on a short track, I mean that to me is my best Dennis Setzer impersonation. Bryan Berry and the boys didn't give up. My spotter Billy Holbrook did a phenomenal job tonight. Bryan Berry made grade decisions. We had to roll with the punches. We came in when we wanted to early on. We were looking pretty good and probably would have had a chance to win the race. We were right behind Rick Crawford who led a lot of laps, and we didn't have to stop again. But then all of a sudden we got into a wreck, and we had to do damage control. Bryan Berry put it back together. We just kept chugging away in our Chevrolet Silverado and kept getting one guy at a time until we ended up top 10. It was just a great team effort, and I'm proud of everybody involved with this South Point Chevrolet team.

"Dennis Setzer is still my hero. He took his Chevrolet, didn't stop - which is a little wrong - when you can take a set of tires, go 250 laps and not need to stop - I just can't believe that. But if there is one man in the world who can do it - and his name is Dennis Setzer and I'm proud that he is one of my Chevrolet teammates."
