05-26-2007 | TruckSeries.com Report
Jack Sprague was the highest-finishing Tundra driver at Mansfield with a 2nd-place finish for Wyler Racing. A total of four Tundras finished in the top-10 Saturday as Mike Skinner finished fourth and Johnny Benson finished fifth for Bill Davis Racing, while Ted Musgrave finished eighth for Germain Racing. Other Tundra finishers were: Terry Cook (12th), Ryan Matthews (18th), Aaron Fike (24th), Todd Bodine (31st) and Ken Butler (36th). The race was red-flagged due to rain three times for more than five hours, and the checkered flag flew nearly eight hours after the green flag waved. Skinner started on the pole and led the first 53 laps. He has now led 497 laps this season. Tundras have won four of seven NCTS races this season. Skinner won three-consecutive races earlier this season (California, Atlanta and Martinsville), and Sprague won the season-opener at Daytona. With the Mansfield pole, Skinner has started at the front in five-straight races, starting with Atlanta (March 16). He also won the pole at Martinsville, Kansas and Charlotte. Tundras have started on the pole in six of seven races this season. Sprague won the pole at Daytona. Jack Sprague, No. 60 Con-way Freight Tundra, Wyler Racing - Finished: 2nd How hard was it for you to work your way through traffic during the race? "It's always hard to pass here at Mansfield. Especially with the rain coming down and washing the rubber off the track, there was really only one groove to make the trucks work. There was a lot of beating and banging out there, which always happens on these short tracks, but today is was pretty tough to get around guys. We just had to be patient, let the pit stops cycle through, and steadily move to the front." Mike Skinner, No. 5 Toyota Tundra, Bill Davis Racing - Finished: 4th Johnny Benson, No. 23 360 OTC Tundra, Bill Davis Racing Finished: 5th Ryan Matthews, No. 36 Buffalo Wild Wings Tundra, Bill Davis Racing - Finished: 18th Are you looking forward to Dover? "I talked to my crew chief about Dover, and he said it was good to get pushed around a little bit here and get a feel for my truck. The Dover track is so fast and the concrete is unforgiving, so you have to have good control. You can't try to do something crazy if you start to lose your truck. I'm just going to try to do what Johnny Benson says, since he's been to all of these places and done pretty well."
