Bill Lester in the No. 15 Manheim Central Florida Auto Auction Chevrolet Silverado set his sights on a stellar finish in Friday's Quaker Steak and Lube 250 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway, but handling issues kept him from a top-10 finish.
Lester placed his truck in the 17th position on the starting grid after posting a time of 30.680 seconds at a speed of 176.010 mph for the 134-lap event at the 1.5 mile speedway. Lester radioed in during the first of the seven caution periods in the race that the truck was tight off the corners, but waited until the second yellow flag flew to hit pit road to free up the truck. Again, Lester noted the truck was still too tight and began to lose positions on the track, going a lap down to the leaders. Fortunately, a caution flag soon flew giving Lester the Lucky Dog award and the ability to head to pit road to make more adjustments. Lester continued to battle the truck and returned to the pits for the last time on lap 125 for a final adjustment to the Silverado. The adjustment stuck and Lester was able to advance two positions bring home a 19th place finish.
"We chased the truck a little tonight," Lester said. "We started out too tight, we were so loose in practice today and made several adjustments, but we may have gone too far. The team did an excellent job on the stops helping to free the truck up. Of course, I would have liked to run better but all and all it was a good night, no damage on the truck, a 19th place finish and an increase in points. We'll take it and head to the short track at Mansfield and see what we can do there."
Christian Debt Consolidation will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 15 Chevrolet Silverado as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to the Mansfield Motorsports Park next for the running of the Ohio 250 Saturday, May 26th.
