Ron Hornaday Jr. led three times for 98 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the Quaker Steak and Lube 200. Hornaday grabbed the honor for the first time this season.
Hornaday won tonight's race, crossing the finish line .244 seconds ahead of A.J. Allmendinger. Allmendinger is a Raybestos Rookie in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series.
Hornaday Jr. Quotes: "We showed up here testing and we could almost throw everything out the window. Rick (Ren, crew chief) and I just made a lot of good notes. We tried some stuff and we tested Kevin's [Harvick, team owner] truck here for him and stuff like that. In the middle of the day it could be a little tight or a little loose and Rick made the right call. We qualified and I was a little free but it was going to be good in the race. We qualified seventh and we got up there. Once we almost got it three-wide there I was like 'Ooooh, this thing stuck. It's going to be a good truck.' I guess it goes back to the luck of when my wife and I looked and said Camping World is the colors of yellow and blue and we won a lot of races there so we were really looking forward with Camping World coming on board changing the colors on that Chevy Silverado. It's really cool to come out here and win one for the first time with a new sponsor setting on the side of that truck."
Hornaday Jr. scored his 30th career Craftsman Truck Series victory in 181 starts. He most recent win came July 8, 2006 at Kentucky Speedway.
Mike Skinner holds a three-race lead (4-1) over Hornaday Jr. and Travis Kvapil in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
