Aaron Fike in The No. 1 RFMS/Red Horse Racing Toyota was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race in tonight's race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Unofficially Fike scored a 14th-place finish and took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the third consecutive race. Fike has been the top rookie in four of the six Craftsman Truck Series races this season.
FIKE: "I think we were better than that. I mean, we were a top-10 truck and I lost my radio about halfway through the race. That didn't help. Other than that, I mean, I thought we had a top-10 truck. Jamie Jones and everybody at Red Horse Racing gave me a good truck to drive. We were just a little bit off there at the end."
Why is the this track so hard for a Raybestos Rookie? "It's just tricky. They've got a real hard tire here and it's real hard to feel. It's real easy to overdrive it and not feel what the thing's doing and end up crashing it."
Are you making progress this season? "Yeah, we're making progress. I think every race we're getting better and better, up to this one anyways. The race went really well today I thought. I think me not having a radio there at the end really hurt, especially when you're running three-wide. It's real hard to run in traffic and stuff."
It seems like you're doing your job. You are finishing races and running laps. "We're doing it. We're building up points, you know. We'll see what happens here. I wish we would have been in the top-10. We'll go on to Mansfield. I think they [his current team] ran third there last year so hopefully we should contend for a top-five, maybe a win."
