Blake Bjorklund, Haas CNC Racing developmental driver, exited early from the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway this past weekend. This was Bjorklund's fifth appearance in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Bjorklund and his team seemed to be battling all sorts of minor issues during practice, including rain. With the rain moving in, practice was cut short and they had only put a few solid laps on the track.
Problems seemed to follow the team as they needed to make adjustments to the motor after qualifying. Due to the adjustments made, Bjorklund started the race at the tail end. Determined, he worked his way through traffic gaining positions rapidly. With a little over 40 laps complete, Bjorklund had worked his way up to the 17th position. Things seemed to be turning around for the No. 8 Chevy Truck team but bad luck would strike once more time, ending the day. The Haas/MRD truck pulled into the garage after completing 56 laps. It was overheating as a result of a blown radiator.
"Our Hass/MRD Chevy Silverado was really starting to come to us. We were just starting to make some ground when the motor began overheating. Our team could not get away from the cloud of bad luck this weekend. It just seemed to be one thing after another here in Kansas. All we can do is look forward and prepare for the next race," stated Bjorklund after the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250.
Bjorklund and the Hass/MRD team will race close to home next at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC.
