Lynch Finishes 20th at Kansas Speedway

Scott Lynch, in the No. 63 Cooper Bussmann sponsored Ford Truck for the first time, drove a conservatively aggressive race to bring home a top-20 finish.

During Friday's practice sessions, the MB Motorsports crew worked hard to improve the handling for Scott. Turns 3 & 4 were fine, but turns 1 & 2 were a hand full. After the first practice and rookie practice, the crew made major changes, but never got to see if they would help when the rains washed out any further practice. As a result, Scott qualified the tight handling truck in the 34th starting position.

When the green flag waved, things worked in the teams favor. A caution at lap 10 allowed major changes to be made. On lap 21, another caution gave the crew the opportunity to make more adjustments and top off the fuel, while the top 22 trucks stayed on the track. Around lap 60 the lead trucks had to stop under the green flag for service, which left the No. 63 Cooper Bussmann Ford as one of 16 trucks on the lead lap. A caution on lap 72 allowed Scott to stop for tires and fuel and restarted in the 8th position.

Scott was able to run in the top 15 for the next 30 laps, but faded to 20th position as the tires began to wear. New tires and fuel on caution lap 112 were not enough to allow Scott to move forward.

"We were extremely tight at the beginning of the race," stated Scott Lynch. "The crew did a great job with the adjustments on the first 2 cautions and we caught a break when the leaders had to pit under green. But we couldn't keep our momentum going when the tires wore down. We had a good day all in all. We are happy with a top 20 our first time in the #63 Cooper Bussmann truck."

"We had a lot of people from Cooper Bussmann in the stands and pits", commented Mike Mittler, owner. "Hopefully they enjoyed the race and our performance. We are happy with the top 20 finish. Scott did a great job this weekend. We made him work with the ill-handling truck early in the race. We are delighted to have run the entire race and to be able to load the truck with only a few minor scratches. It was a good day."
