Byrnes, Hammond, Mcreynolds and Dillner to Cover Event That Sets All-Star Pit Choice
SPEED will air the NASCAR Nextel Pit Crew Challenge from Charlotte Bobcats Arena on May 19 at 12:30 p.m. as part of the network's week-long coverage of NASCAR All-Star Week on SPEED. It will mark the third consecutive year SPEED has covered the event, which now sets pit selection for the NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge.
"Last year on the floor, you could really feel the adrenaline rush and the intensity," said former championship crew chief Jeff Hammond, winner of two pit crew competitions. "This isn't about how crews perform in front of an audience or how they perform on TV. This is about how they perform in front of each other. On Sunday, you hear about all the great pit crews, but this event is different. This is about me looking right at you and you looking right at me and having only one chance to get it right. The nerves, the pressure and the anxiousness are for real."
Steve Byrnes will host SPEED coverage of the NASCAR Nextel Pit Crew Challenge with analysis from Hammond and fellow former crew chief Larry McReynolds and reporting from Bob Dillner.
