Bailey's Cigarettes is no stranger to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS), having served as the primary sponsor of rookie Timothy Peters in 2005. Peters has since joined Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and is now a contender in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS). Bailey's and Peters will reunite and return to the NCTS this season. The pair will team up with Statesville, NC based Morgan-Dollar Motorsports (MDM) for three major races.
"It is an honor to be associated with such respected names in the industry: Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing and Timothy Peters. It is the hard work of all parties involved that has made Bailey's return to the track possible," said S&M's Steven Bailey, company president.
S&M Brands, Inc. (S&M), makers of Bailey's and Tahoe cigarettes, will compete for the checkered flag at historic Martinsville Speedway (MS). The no. 46 Morgan-Dollar Chevrolet Silverado will carry the bright blue and yellow Bailey's branding at the upcoming Kroger 250 on March 31 and again at the Kroger 200 on October 20.
If there is one track that Peters knows well, it is Martinsville. He made his NCTS debut at Martinsville Speedway's Kroger 250 on April 9, 2005. Peters is anxious to return to the trucks and Martinsville Speedway. "I have always had a close relationship with the Bailey's. They definitely resurrected my racing career. To return to the trucks two years later with Bailey's and Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, one of the best teams in the truck series, is an honor. It will be cool to get back to my hometown track."
S&M will also be on board as primary sponsor of the No. 46 Silverado at the O'Reilly 200 at the Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS) on Aug. 22. Also known as the "World's Fastest Half Mile," BMS is a fan favorite and draws crowds from near and far. "We chose Martinsville and Bristol because these areas are saturated with loyal fans; fans of racing and our brands (Bailey's and Tahoe). Supporting a sport that our fans enjoy is just one of the many ways in which we give back to our consumers," said Steven Bailey.
S&M has high hopes of visiting Victory Lane. Bailey thinks he has found a winning combination. "Timothy (Peters) has trained with top notch organizations, such as RCR, and has the drive to win. Morgan-Dollar has a truck that is capable of smoking the competition. We are all looking forward to the challenge."
