After ranting about rules infractions, sub-par television ratings, and bad tires throughout the first part of the NASCAR season, we thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and remember a simpler time when stock car racing wasn't so 'sophisticated.'
That said, we made a Close Finishes road trip to the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame in Mooresville, NC last week. The facility, located just off I-77 at exit 36, provided a couple hours or reminiscing among its 35 cars, dozens of displays, and countless artifacts.
Two cars particularly caught or eye - a Richard Petty Chevy Monte Carlo (that's right, the King wheeled a Chevy for awhile) and a Curtis Turner 1950s vintage Ford NASCAR stocker.
