Kraig Kinser and his Morgan-Dollar Motorsports (MDM) team were hoping to leave the California Speedway with a top-5 or top-10 finish, but Kinser just wasn't dealt the right cards when the green flag flew Friday night.

After pacing practice on Thursday, the No. 47 Ginn Resorts Silverado piloted by 22-year old Kinser quickly had heads turning in the garage area at the 2.0-mile D-shaped oval. After narrowly missing the field in 2006 because of the qualifying procedure, Kinser was ready to finally make his first start at California.

Kinser qualified his Silverado in the 12th position in the 34-truck field, and when the green flag flew, Kinser and his Rodney McGehee-led crew knew they had a truck that could run up front all night. The pit crew serviced the truck on lap 32, and made adjustments to correct the loose condition that Kinser had reported on the radio.

Then, on lap 51, Kinser radioed the crew and reported the truck was tight in the center, and in Turn 4, Kinser got loose and spun, bringing out the second caution of the night. There was no damage to the truck, however, the tires were flat-spotted and on lap 53, Kinser brought the truck down pit road once again for service. Crew chief Rodney McGehee decided to bring Kinser down pit road to be topped off with fuel, in the event of a green-white-checkered finish.

Following the spin, the No. 47 Silverado restarted the race in 24th, and a final pit stop on lap 89 helped Kinser finish out the second race of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season in the 17th position.

"I really don't know what happened in Turn 4, the truck just got out from under me, and I lost it," Kinser said. The truck was really, really good, and I know that we could have had a top-10 and maybe even a top-5 finish. The guys in the pits did a great job, and we all were really pleased with the 12th place qualifying spot also. I think we are letting people know that this team is capable of running up front, and I expect to have a good, solid run when we head to Atlanta in a couple of weeks."
