The first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event of the 2007 season at Daytona International Speedway Friday night was playing out to be a race to remember for Dodge Driver Chase Miller and the No. 4 Open Joist Racing Team. Miller, who had never seen DIS before testing in January, spent most of the night in the lead pack running in the top 10 for the first 54 laps after starting the event in the 15th position. But things came to an abrupt ending on lap 89 when Miller charged toward the front of the pack and his Dodge Ram hooked loose coming off of turn four sending him on a spectacular ride raising his No. 4 Dodge up on two wheels. Miller careened into the outside wall and then came to a rest across the speedway in the grass. He finished in the 22nd position.
"It was a wild ride," said Miller after the crash. "I hate it for everyone on this team and for Dodge and the Open Joist folks. We had a great run going. I was down low, life was great, and the rear end started coming around on me. I over corrected and ran back onto the track. It's not how I wanted to start the year."

Miller qualified in the 15th position for his first career start at Daytona. He turned a fast lap of 175.322 mph around the two-and-a-half mile Superspeedway on Thursday night.
Miller took the green flag and wasted no time gaining on his fellow competitors. The Dodge Development driver passed seven trucks on lap one. He was running in the eighth position when the first of seven cautions waved two laps later.
The No. 4 Open Joist Dodge continued to make its way to the front when the second caution came out on lap 11 for an accident in turn two. Crew Chief Marcus Richmond made the call to bring Miller down pit road for fuel only. The No. 4 Open Joist Racing Team fueled the Dodge Ram and gained one position while on pit road. Miller restarted in the seventh position.
By lap 20 Miller had worked his way into the fourth spot. "I have an awesome truck," excitedly said Miller.
Four laps later the third caution waved when Bobby Hamilton Racing teammate Ken Schrader was involved in a multi-truck wreck. Miller came down pit road to the attention of his race team. The No. 4 Open Joist Racing Team continued to impress on pit road as they changed right side tires and added fuel during the caution. He restarted in the eighth position on lap 30.
Miller ran in the fifth position for the next 20 laps before the fourth caution was waved for a spin in turn two. "It's getting a little tight," said Miller. He came down pit road for four tires, fuel and a minor adjustment to aide the tight condition.
The next caution waved several laps later on lap 62. Richmond used the caution as an opportunity to bring Miller down pit road one final time for fuel only. Miller was trapped on pit road by the No. 6 truck, who pitted in front of him, as he tried to exit his pit stall causing him to lose valuable time. Miller restarted in the 13th position on lap 66.
By lap 80 Miller had worked his way back into the top 10.
With just 10 laps remaining in the 100-lap event Miller was preparing to make his charge to the front when the No. 4 Open Joist Dodge hooked loose coming off of turn four causing Miller to turn right into the outside wall resulting in a multi-truck wreck. The impact from the outside wall turned the Dodge Ram up on two wheels displaying a spectacular ride for Miller before he came to a stop on the front stretch.
Miller was treated and released from the infield care center. The No. 4 Open Joist Dodge finished in the 22nd position.
Jack Sprague won the Chevy Silverado HD 250 at Daytona. Johnny Benson, Travis Kvapil, Mike Skinner and Todd Bodine rounded out the top five finishers.
