McCumbee Picks Up Where He Left Off, Finishes 13th at Daytona

The Momentum is Flowing Again with Green Light Racing

When the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series headed to Daytona International Speedway, Chad McCumbee was up for his first lesson in Trucks at the high-banked track.  He had been around several times in an ARCA car, but this was to be his test at Daytona in a NASCAR Craftsman Truck.

And he passed that test with flying colors.

"It was a good debut for the Green Light Racing No. 08 theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet for the '07 season," said McCumbee.  "We really got kicked right back off to where we finished last year.  We finished 13th in Homestead, and now we are starting right back off at the same place.  It was a good start for us.

"I am really happy with everything.  I had a really good time working with my new crew chief Dan Glauz, and I think that the rest of 2007 should be pretty good."

McCumbee drove a smart race. The Green Light Racing team didn't get the qualifying effort that they wanted but knew that the car would be good in the draft.  Starting from the 30th position, McCumbee paced his car for the 250-mile event.

"The draft was pretty wild.  I knew that it would be.  At the beginning of the race I wanted to get up front and see how long that it would take me to get up there, and once I knew that, I tried to hang around the back because I knew some stuff was going to take place that I wouldn't want to be a part of it.  We were pretty lucky to miss all of the wrecks.  We had a couple of near misses."

As the laps began to tick down, McCumbee knew it was time to go.

"There at the end, when it was about 15 or 20 to go, I knew that it was time to move on up.  And we went.  I was up behind Musgrave, who had a chance at a top-five. Then the outside line stalled a little bit, but that is just plate racing.  It was a good finish for theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet.

"I wish it could have been a little bit better," added McCumbee.  "But you never know where you are going to finish until you cross the start/finish line."

The next race for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will come on Friday, February 23rd, at California Speedway with the running of the San Bernandino County 200.

Sponsorship opportunities for the 2007 season with Chad McCumbee and the #08 Green Light Racing team are still available.
