| Michigan Fan Enhancement Projects Begin
11-29-2006 |
Michigan International Speedway's fan enhancement projects, which were
announced by the track in October, are beginning to take shape with the
replacing of new grandstands in Turn One.
The old grandstands have been removed and concrete foundations for the new
seating are being poured. Southern Bleacher Company has begun the project and is
contracting much of the work to various businesses from throughout the Midwest
and State of Michigan.
"This is just the beginning of many projects that will improve the overall fan
experience at Michigan International Speedway," MIS President Roger Curtis said.
"This is all part of an ongoing commitment to the race fans that support us. We
are dedicated to making their experience when they are here one that they will
remember."
Two existing grandstands in Turn One are being replaced with new, fan friendly
grandstands. The new grandstands will offer race fans premium seating and
amazing sightlines of the two-mile oval. Seats in the new grandstands are four
inches wider than the seats in the old grandstands, and will allow fans to have
more leg room. In addition, all of the new seats are bench-style with seat
backs. The new grandstands are also higher than the old grandstands so fans who
sit there will have breathtaking views of all the on-track action at MIS —
including a fantastic view down pit road.
The new seats will carry Michigan International Speedway's familiar and distinct
yellow and red pattern.
This is just the first of several projects that MIS is doing to enhance the race
fans' experience for 2007. Along with the new Turn One seating, MIS has also
announced plans for enhanced tram stops and additional trams for disabled
guests, as well as RV camping along pit road. A new parking lot for Skylounge
Suite holders is also being constructed next to the AAA Motorsports Fan Plaza.
Deposits for the 2007 season are being accepted until Friday, Dec. 15 by calling
the MIS ticket office at 1-800-354-1010. Deposits can be redeemed starting Jan.
3, 2007. Placing a deposit allows customers to purchase tickets after the
renewal process but before they go on sale to the public. Tickets will go on
sale to the general public beginning on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007. For additional
information, call the MIS Ticket Hotline at 1-800-354-1010.
