| Speed51.com To Again Be "Official News Website Of Snowball Derby"
11-29-2006 | TruckSeries.com Report
Every year, the entire Short Track racing world looks at one thing - Five
Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. At the historic half-mile, Super Late
Model racers from all over the country converge to gun for one of the most
coveted prizes in motorsports
the Snowball Derby trophy.
Fans come to Five Flags from all over the country as well. But in early
December, not everyone can make it to the Florida peninsula. And for the last
few years, those fans have turned to Speed51.com for all of the news and
information from the race weekend. And this year, things will be no different.
Officials from the Snowball Derby and Speed51.com will again team up to bring
fans the most extensive coverage of the annual event found anywhere. From the
moment the teams pull into the track for the annual "Pit Party" on Wednesday
night through the checkered flag of the 300-lap event on Sunday, Speed51.com
will be the one place for fans to check out all of the action.
"Snowball Derby is always one of the biggest weekends on the Speed51.com site,"
said Jeremy Troiano, Speed51.com writer and 51 Sports General Manager. "We
always seem to have a lot of fun as a group going down there as well. There are
just so many good stories floating around the pit area, it's just too bad we
can't cover them all. But giving people the stories that they might not hear
about and making them feel like they are right there at the track is what we are
about, and that is what we plan on doing once again.
"From covering the Fast Eddies Snowball Showdown go-kart event on Thursday night
all the way until the race story and leftovers after the event, we try and let
people know what all went on. And we don't keep to just the Snowball Derby guys.
We talk Snowflake 100, Modifieds, Super Stocks and all of the local classes. If
it happens at the track, we'll try and bring it home to the fans."
Fans can expect stories, leftovers, note packages and even photo galleries
during the weekend.
"We finish our season in mid-October and virtually start immediately preparing
for the Snowball," said Tim Bryant, promoter at Five Flags Speedway. "There is a
lot that goes into it. We can't increase the size of our facility as our fields
of racecars grow. So that means there is a lot of infrastructure work to do and
a lot of planning. We really feel responsible. When people come to the Snowball,
they look forward to it. We want it to be an enjoyable experience for them. We
want everything to be as good as possible.
"The same goes for those that can't make it to the race. We want to be able to
give all of the fans of the Snowball Derby, not just the ones that are here in
the stands, a great experience, and Speed51.com lets us do that. Over the last
couple of years, the publicity that they have given the race has been
tremendous. They do a great job at both the writing and photography aspects of
things."
Speed51.com has become a leader in online Motorsports information by focusing on
the Short Track Racing realm. 51 realized nearly five years ago that there was a
void in the industry for news and behind-the-scenes stories. Now, 51 is viewed
by thousands of fans per day. The site fuels your Short Track appetite for
NASCAR's Grand National and Elite Divisions, NASCAR Modified Tours, the USAR Pro
Cup Series, Super Late Models from all across the country and much more.
