Bobby East started 14th Friday night at the Casino Arizona 150 in his State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford F-150 at the Phoenix International Raceway. He finished 18th.
East's next race will be the season-finale Ford 200 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Friday night.
Bobby East on Phoenix: "I guess you're not supposed to be too upset when you finish on the lead lap, especially when you're a rookie, but we really wanted a little more out of our Wood Brothers/JTG Racing Ford. We got stuck in the middle of the pack and never could work our way out of it. Track position is so important in this sport. When you're in the middle like we were most of the night, it becomes a battle of survival."
Bobby East on the season: "The good thing about an 18th-place finish and being on the lead lap is it says a lot about how hard this race team works and how far it's come. This is a rookie team. We started from scratch a year ago, building trucks from the ground up. John Monsam (crew chief) has done an incredible job preparing these trucks, and that makes it easy to expect a lot more out of them that we probably should."
Crew Chief John Monsam on Phoenix: "It really puts a race team in a bind when you have to qualify in the heat of the day, then race at night. It's two completely different setups. We tried to find a balance that would make us respectable during qualifying, with some room for improvement during the race. We accomplished that, but we never could get the kind of track position our truck needed."
