| Bires, No. 19 Ford Review: Atlanta
10-30-2006 | TruckSeries.com Report
Kelly Bires started 29th last Saturday at the EasyCare Vehicle Services Contracts 200 Wood Brothers/JTG Racing Ford F-150 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. He finished 19th. Bires will drive full-time for Wood Brothers/JTG Racing in 2007 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Kelly Bires on Atlanta: "All the rain on Friday really put us behind, but we accomplished what we wanted. We helped the truck out in practice and had it pretty good for the race. I had no radio contact with the crew. I could hear them; they couldn't hear me. We were loose in the turns and they guessed I was tight. I finally came in and took the window net down and told them what needed to be done. It was so loose early, I had to get completely off the gas and work the brakes. We got it driving good at the end of the race." Kelly Bires on the season: "We were able to roll it in the trailer and bring it back home. We didn't do anything stupid. We were better than our finish, but we ran a lot of laps, got a Top-20 finish and brought it home in one piece. All in all, everyone was happy with our first race in the Craftsman Truck Series. I think we've got a great foundation for our program in 2007." Crew Chief Michael "Fatback" McSwain on Atlanta: "We got everything we wanted in this first race with Kelly. We had to really thrash to get the truck ready for the race after we lost so much practice time. We pulled guys from our other teams at Wood Brothers/JTG Racing to make this happen. We were competitive, and that's always a good thing. For a first effort, everyone did a great job." Kelly Bires' 2006 Season Highlights Best Starting Position: 29th (Atlanta)
