WAM Announces Additional Celebrity Homerun Derby Partners and Participants

The Women's Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. (WAM) announces that the NASCAR Foundation has joined as a supporting partner of the 2006 WAM Celebrity Homerun Derby. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, October 11, 2006, will be held at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, home of the Kannapolis Intimidators, in Kannapolis, N.C.

In addition Sarah Hunt and John Luzzi from SPEED have joined the list of celebrity participants. They will do battle with the likes of Kenny Wallace, Tony Raines, David Stremme, David Reutimann, Kerry Earnhardt, Hermie Sadler, defending Craftsman Truck Series Champion Ted Musgrave, Speed Channel's John Roberts, Steve Byrnes, Rick Allen, Bob Dillner and nascar.com's Marty Smith.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with the homerun derby scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. There will be exclusive on-field access for a pre-event autograph party to the first 500 fans to register after entering the park. In addition to the autographs, fans will have an opportunity to register for prizes and chances to compete with drivers in various activities between rounds.

As an added bonus, the evening will end will a spectacular fireworks show immediately following the end of the event.

A $10.00 admission fee will be charged with proceeds going toward WAM and its charitable efforts including its commitment to construct the playroom at the new Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord, N.C. Children five years and younger will be admitted for free. Tickets can be purchased through the stadium by calling 704-932-3267 or through the WAM office by calling 704-788-9299.

The Women's Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. (WAM, Inc.), was established in 2004 with the merger of the Winston Cup Racing Wives Auxiliary and the Busch Series Ladies Association. The Auxiliary's mission is to enrich the lives of women, children, and families through educational and wellness programs. In addition, the Women's Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. helps support organizations with likeminded missions and purposes.
