Bobby East started second last Saturday at the Smith's Las Vegas 350 in his State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford F-150 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He finished 22nd.
Bobby East on Las Vegas: "We've had such a run of bad luck lately, finishing on the lead lap is a big relief. We had a great truck, but we couldn't get track position. The problem with re-configuring Las Vegas and re-paving it means there aren't a lot of racing grooves there. The only way around is along the bottom, so once you're in line, you're pretty much stuck there. Our primary goal was to come in, push our State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford hard and bring it home in one piece. We did that. And we managed to finish on the lead lap in the process."
Bobby East on the season: "No matter how much you learn in this sport, there's always a new lesson waiting for you. This is a continuous effort at Wood Brothers/JTG Racing. We've come a long way this year as a first-year team and we seem to double what we know every week. As long as we keep doing that, we're headed in the right direction."
Crew Chief John Monsam on Las Vegas: "We threw a lot of things at our Ford F-150 and it responded to everything we did. We had an eight-hour practice session on Friday. We learned more in one day than we could have in a month of races. We're still playing a game of balance. If we're fast in qualifying, we give up a little too much for the race. It's a learning process. The good thing is we ran well, finished on the lead lap and brought it home with all the fenders on it."
East's next race will be the Talladega 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 7.
