Matt Crafton looks to continue his drive toward the top-ten in NASCAR'S Craftsman Truck Series standings as the No. 88 Menards Chevrolet Silverado team heads to New Hampshire International Speedway for Saturday's New Hampshire 200.
Crafton, who won his only Bud Pole Award at the 1-mile track last year, is in 12th place in the standings, only 38 points removed from the top-10. In 17 races thus far in '06, Crafton has racked up 8 top-ten and 3 top-five finishes. The Tulare, California native still seeks his first win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and figures New Hampshire would be a fine place for it.
"We're still working hard to get that first win, and it would be great if it came at Loudon," Crafton said. "Loudon is a unique place. I've always enjoyed racing there. I'm hoping we can sit on the Pole again this year, and if we stay out of trouble and have good pit stops, I'm confident we'll have a good run. Last year, we were involved in a wreck that spoiled our day. It's a flat track, so your truck needs to handle well and driver ability is especially important there."
While all drivers value some days off now and then, most drivers are itching to get back to the track after a break, Crafton included. "It's been 3 weeks since Bristol, and I'm pumped up to get back out and race again," Crafton said. "It seems like it's been forever."
Exclusive coverage of the New Hampshire 200 begins at 1:30 p.m. EST on SPEED Channel.
