SPEED's New 'Barrett-Jackson: On the Road' Show Debuts at AutoFair at LMS

The inaugural production of "Barrett-Jackson: On the Road," a new original program produced by SPEED, will be filmed during the Sept. 14-17 Food Lion AutoFair at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Craig Jackson, Steve Davis and Gary Bennett of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company will be traveling throughout the Food Lion AutoFair car club and car corral display areas, searching for automobiles with interesting stories or unique histories.

Jackson, president and CEO of Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Events, along with the Barrett-Jackson team of car experts, will then tell the best stories during live taping sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They will also decode cars, provide comparisons, offer evaluations and make recommendations from the SPEED stage, located in the track's infield adjacent to the Food Lion Pavilion.

"Each car collector has a unique story to tell about his or her automobile," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway. "My favorite part of Food Lion AutoFair has always been talking with the participants and hearing the stories about their cars.

"'Barrett-Jackson: On the Road' offers a platform for those stories to be shared with automotive enthusiasts across the country and we are thrilled SPEED selected Food Lion AutoFair as the location for the inaugural production."

The program is scheduled to debut in January prior to the 2007 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale, Ariz., where SPEED plans expanded live coverage.

"The Food Lion Auto Fair is the perfect setting for the introduction of our new show," said Jackson. "The event attracts a wide variety of collector vehicles and dedicated owners who are as passionate about their vehicles as we are."

"SPEED is extremely excited about expanding our Barrett-Jackson based programming," said Rick Miner, SPEED executive producer. "Nobody serves the car collectors like Barrett-Jackson and SPEED. This is our first attempt to bring that experience to regional collector car events. What better venue than the home of NASCAR in Charlotte, N.C., and the legendary Lowe's Motor Speedway."

In addition to his duties with the television program during Food Lion AutoFair, Jackson will assist Wheeler in selecting the Best of Show award and the owner of the winning car will receive an all-expense paid trip to the Jan. 13-17 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event and auction.

The four-day Food Lion AutoFair includes a car show featuring various makes and models from some 50 clubs; more than 10,000 vendor spaces that offer a plethora of automotive parts and memorabilia; and a collector car auction conducted by Tom Mack. A car corral, which completely circles the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway, features nearly 1,500 vehicles of all makes and models available for sale or trade.

Other attractions scheduled for Food Lion AutoFair include a display of vintage wood-bodied wagons, the Ultimate Surfmobile from Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage," a 900-horsepower Shadrach Mustang and 40th Anniversary gatherings of two important American muscle cars that have recently been revived: the Dodge Charger and the Shelby GT-500 Mustang. An amazing Ford Model A airbrushed with a century of cartoon characters will also be on display.

Adult tickets for the Sept. 14-17 Food Lion AutoFair are $10 per day with children under 12 admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Parking for the event is $5. Information can be obtained online at www.lowesmotorspeedway.com.
