Reutimann Looks Back and Ahead to Richmond
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

A lot has changed since David Reutimann made his NASCAR Busch Series debut in 2002 at Richmond International Raceway. The Florida native is running for a championship in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and has secured a full-time ride in the No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine with Michael Waltrip Racing for 2007.

"I showed up in Richmond a few years ago with one car and one motor," Reutimann stated. "It was my one and only shot. I made my first start with Joe Nemechek's team with a car a friend of mine helped me buy. I had never tested a Busch car. I only made some laps in the car to shake it down at Lakeland (Fla.). I had no experience. Man, things have really changed."

Reutimann finished 16th in his debut, which was solid enough for Nemechek to ask him to run more races for NEMCO Motorsports. Now, Reutimann returns to Richmond International Raceway for a second time in a NASCAR Busch Series entry. This time he's looking to top Michael Waltrip Racing's overall best finish at the .75-mile oval, which is fourth in 2003.

"We're after a top-five finish," Reutimann stated. "We've finished in the top-10 multiple times and we're looking for better results. I've ran a couple Craftsman Truck races at Richmond International Raceway (best finish 17th in 2005), but I've only ran one Busch race there. I really like the track and it's a really cool place. It's small, but it's a fast track with a lot of grip that you can pass on."

Live coverage of the Emerson Radio 250 NASCAR Busch Series event at Richmond International Raceway on September 8th begins at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on TNT and MRN Radio.
