Reutimann Enjoys Continued Success with Both Waltrip Teams

David Reutimann is aiming to continue his progress in the No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine at California Speedway this weekend. Reutimann returns to the two-mile D-shaped oval following back-to-back top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and Busch Series events at Bristol Motor Speedway last week.

"We had a respectable finish in both races at Bristol and I'm ready for California," Reutimann stated. "It's been a great track for me. The first time I was ever in a Busch car there, I qualified fourth and we ran in the top-10 during the race. I think we ended up 11th. Earlier this year in the Craftsman Truck race, we got the pole and finished fourth. We feel pretty good about our chances this weekend with our Aaron's Dream Machine."

Reutimann's goal this season is twofold. First, Reutimann and his Darrell Waltrip Motorsports team have unfinished business - they want to deliver Toyota their first championship in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, which has an off weekend this week. Reutimann is just as determined to place the No. 99 Aaron's Dream Machine in the top-10 NASCAR Busch Series owner's standings. Currently, the team is 17th in the owner's standings (123 points out of 10th-place).

"There are a couple of things we want to accomplish this year," Reutimann stated, who is third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points standings. "We want to win the truck championship and we want to position the Aaron's Dream Machine in the top-10. Both are goals are reachable, but we've got to really work hard at it. It would be incredible to end our year that way."

Reutimann has been in the rumor mill recently as his team owner (Michael Waltrip) seeks to deliver a driver to Burger King and Domino's for the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season.

"It's flattering just to be talked about and it's something that may or may not happen," Reutimann stated. "It's just a big thrill and a good situation to be in. I'm taking it all in and trying to learn as much as I go. The media has been great and I owe them a lot. I have an awesome deal with Aaron's next year in the NASCAR Busch Series and I'm going to give them 100%. They are an incredible sponsor. I had an opportunity to spend some time with Robin Loudermilk and Rich Lamprey of Aaron's and meet all of Michael Waltrip Racing's sponsors last week. I'm proud to be affiliated with such remarkable people. Michael has done an incredible job. I have D.W. to thank for giving a guy like me a shot. I just don't know what else to say."

Darrell Waltrip has been instrumental in Reutimann's career every step of the way.

"I remember seeing David on television after he won the Busch Series pole at Memphis and thinking who is this kid," stated Darrell Waltrip. "He'd go to tracks he'd never been to and run up front, lead, or finish in the top-five or in the top-10. He runs well in everything he gets in. Like Michael has said before, he's fast and he's a guy we'd want in our car. It's neat to see how he's grown. I'm pretty proud of him and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him."

Live coverage of the NASCAR Busch Series Ameriquest 300 at California Speedway on September 2nd begins at 10 p.m. Eastern on TNT and MRN Radio.
