| Barium Springs Home for Children Group Visits Key Motorsports
08-17-2006 | TruckSeries.com Report
Key Motorsports turned its NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series shop into a classroom for a period of time Thursday when the organization hosted a group of children and advisors from the Barium Springs Home for Children of Troutman, NC. Barium Springs Home for Children is a teaching-family model of both residential and daily care for children and their families. Founded way back in 1883 as the Charlotte area's very first orphanage setting, Barium Springs Home for Children has evolved from its initial phase in 1891 to a full-care educational facility today. The Home provides assistance and guidance to children and their families when traditional classroom education needs to be altered. The Home also offers high-quality, full-day childcare for working parents and also provides individual, family and group therapy as part of its Family Solutions Program on its Troutman campus and in the community. The group toured the Key Motorsports facility located on Pit Road in the new Performance Park just off of State Highway 152 East. The group visited with the race team's fabricators and mechanics, viewed the transporter and was treated to a detailed presentation on the sport and that which surrounds the establishment of the race team and its No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado race trucks. The group also listened to comments made by team members on various facets of the truck racing building and racing business and was treated to a meet-and-greet, autograph and photo session with Moore at the end of the day.
